The story

Bhoramdeo is a group of four Shiva temples about 18 km northwest of Kawardha in Kabirdham district, set against the wooded Maikal hills. The earliest is built of brick, but the main shrine is of stone, and its finely carved walls, including erotic sculptures, recall Khajuraho and Konark; hence its nickname, the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh. The complex is linked to the Naga kings of the region and dated broadly between the 7th and 12th centuries, with the main temple credited to Laxman Dev Rai and Gopal Dev.

About a kilometre away stands the Madwa Mahal, also called Dullhadeo, whose name means marriage hall. It was built in 1349 in the reign of the Naga ruler Ramchandra Deo and holds a Shiva linga raised on sixteen pillars. The nearest airport, near Raipur, is 134 km away, and Raipur is also the closest railhead.
