This temple lies roughly 35 km from Alwar, close to the Sariska tiger reserve, in hilly country with seasonal waterfalls. It is built over the samadhi of Baba Bhartrihari, also called Yogi Bhartrihari Nath, and follows a traditional Rajasthani style. Devotees keep a lamp and a fire pit burning here at all times.
Bhartrihari is remembered as a poet, philosopher and king of Ujjain. Legend says he gave up his throne after learning that his queen, Pingala, had betrayed him, and wandered as an ascetic before meditating here under Guru Gorakhnath. Local belief holds that during a drought he made water flow out of a rock, and that he finally entered samadhi by having himself buried alive at this spot. Shiva is also worshipped, and a large fair takes place in the month of Bhadrapad.
