The story

Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal is a cultural institution and museum in Udaipur devoted to studying and promoting the folk arts, songs, dances, festivals and literature of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. It was founded in 1952 by Devi Lal Samar, who was later honoured with the Padma Shri.

Its museum displays folk objects from Rajasthan: village costumes, ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments, images of folk deities, paintings and wall sculptures. There is also a kathputli puppet theatre, where shows are staged at regular intervals.
