The Barid Shahi tombs in Bidar, Karnataka, are the burial place of the Barid Shahi dynasty, which ruled from 1492 to 1695. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries in the Indo-Islamic style of the Deccan Sultanates, they stand in a garden of which some mango and tamarind trees survive.
Amir Barid began his own tomb but died in 1542 before it was finished, and it remains incomplete; his father Qasim Barid lies to its east. Ali Barid's tomb was completed in 1576–77, three years before his death, and his son Ibrahim Barid's is a copy of it, raised on a 6-ft platform and entered through a two-storey gateway, with several graves under mango trees in its enclosure. The tomb of Qasim Barid II lies to the south, and an idgah, possibly of the Bahmani period, stands at the east end of Qasim Barid's tomb. The ASI lists the complex among monuments of national importance, and it is on the tentative list for World Heritage status.
