The story

Atal Udyan is an urban park in Guwahati's Maligaon area, at Adabari Tiniali. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority began work on it in late 2017 as part of a drive to beautify the city, on land acquired from the Assam State Housing Board. It covers 8 bighas, about 2.6 acres, and cost ₹8.74 crore. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma opened it on 24 December 2021, a day ahead of what would have been the 97th birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Inside are an amphitheatre seating 250, a meditation hall, kiosks for resting, an open-air gym, a children's playground, a fountain, a Japanese garden, a court of sculptures made from scrap waste and a shrine to Shiva.
