Aneswaram Siva Temple stands at Chemmappilly in western Thrissur district, about three kilometres from Thriprayar. Once the property of a Namboothiri family, it is now run by the Cochin Devaswom Board. The image of Shiva faces west, towards a pond and paddy fields directly opposite, and elders say a deity facing water carries greater power. The temple's thanthri also serves Thriprayar Sreeramaswami Temple, and the spot where the Sethubandhanam is re-enacted each year lies close by.
A local story links the two temples: during the village procession of the Thriprayar deity at the Arattupuzha festival, he is said to slip silently past Aneswaram because he once borrowed paddy and coconuts from its Shiva. Maha Shivaratri is the main festival, and Sreekrishna Jayanthi draws an evening procession. The month of Karkkidakam brings Ramayana readings and a Ganapathi homam, and Vavu bali rites for ancestors are held every year.
