The story

The Wax Museum in Ooty occupies a mansion about 130 years old. It was created by businessman Shreeji Bhaskaran to present Indian culture, village life and well-known people as wax figures, and visitors are free to pose and take photographs with them.

Freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Subhas Chandra Bose appear alongside Mother Teresa, Rabindranath Tagore, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Barack Obama, as well as Lord Krishna and Sai Baba of Shirdi. Other displays show farming and pottery, and one warns against drunk driving. Each figure has a plaque explaining who it is.
