The story

Unchalli Falls, which also goes by the name Lushington Falls, is where the Aghanashini river plunges 116 metres in Uttara Kannada, about 35 kilometres from Sirsi and a similar distance from Siddapur. It takes its English name from J.D. Lushington, a British district collector who came across it in 1845.

The deafening roar of the water has earned it the local name Keppa Joga. The falls are said to be one of only five places in the world where moonbows, rainbows formed by moonlight in the spray, can be seen. The nearest village, Heggarne, is about 5 kilometres away, and reaching the falls from there involves a walk through dense forest.
