The story

Jog Falls, also known as Gerusoppa Falls, is a series of large waterfalls on the Sharavati River on the border of Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada districts. The river drops about 253 metres in all, splitting into four cascades named Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket. Only Nohkalikai in Meghalaya and Dudhsagar in Goa are taller in India.

The falls change with the seasons; after heavy rain the separate streams can merge into one great plunge. There are two main places to watch from. The front viewpoint at Jog-Kargal, in Sagar taluk, gives the full panorama, while the British Bungalow viewpoint in Siddapur taluk sits right beside the falls. It is one of Karnataka's most visited natural sights.
