Sukanta Academy is a science centre in central Agartala, opened in 1997 and named after the Bengali poet Sukanta Bhattacharya. It was set up to promote scientific curiosity among the public and has become both a resource for schools and a regular stop for visitors to the city, helped by its location close to other landmarks.
The exhibits are mostly hands-on and explain practical applications of science. They include an Energy Park, an ISRO gallery on Indian space research, a railway gallery and an aquarium, along with themed galleries ranging from basic physics to modern technology.
