01 — The story

The story

Sudarshan Setu spans the Arabian Sea between Okha on the mainland and the island of Beyt Dwarka, and it is the longest cable-stayed bridge in India. Work began in October 2017 and the project cost ₹9.78 billion. Before it opened, the island could be reached only by boat, so the bridge has greatly shortened the trip for pilgrims bound for the island's shrines.

Steel pylons hold cables spread out in a fan pattern, and solar panels are fitted along the structure. The footpaths on both sides are decorated with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and pictures of Krishna.
