Built in 1598 inside Diu Fort, St. Thomas Church was once the area's first parish church. Its Portuguese-era Gothic design shows in the pointed arches over the doors. Regular services stopped long ago, and over the years the building was used as an orphanage and later as a police station.
In 1992 it was restored and opened as a museum of the region's Christian and archaeological heritage. The collection includes stone inscriptions left by past rulers, carved wooden pieces up to about 400 years old, some made from fossilised wood, statues of Christ and the Virgin Mary gathered from nearby churches, marble figures of St. Benedict and St. Thomas, and old shadow clocks.
