Someshwar Temple is one of the older Shiva shrines of Nashik and also houses a temple of Hanuman. It stands on the bank of the Godavari, a short way out of the busy city centre, and draws both worshippers and families looking for a quiet riverside outing.
Besides darshan, visitors come for the river itself: people swim and take boats on the Godavari here, and a children's park lies close by. The temple front and the green surroundings are a familiar sight on screen, as the spot has been used as a backdrop by many film crews, which has made it one of the recognisable landmarks of Nashik.
