The story

Siruvapuri Sri Balasubrahmanyam Temple is a Murugan temple in Thiruvallur district. Temple records say its structure was built more than five hundred years ago, and besides Murugan it holds images of Shiva and Parvati.

Hindu mythology connects the site with the Ramayana: Lava and Kusha, the sons of Rama, are said to have come here. The 14th-century poet Arunagirinathar visited the temple on several occasions and sang songs from his Thiruppugal there.
