The story

Shristhal Sangrahalay, also called the Siddhpur Museum or Bindu Sarovar Museum, sits within the precinct of Bindu Sarovar in Siddhpur, a pilgrimage site in north Gujarat where Hindus perform matru shraddh, the funeral rites for a mother. First proposed in 2010, it was designed by Shilanyas Design Consultants and opened on 10 June 2017 by Vijay Rupani, then Chief Minister. The building follows the axis of the sacred tank, and pools placed around it keep water in view, as a link to the rituals of Bindu Sarovar.

Three galleries carry the themes. Tirtha, on the lower level, covers the rituals of Siddhpur; it opens with a round chamber surrounded by daylight and water, and its frescoes tell ten legends connected with shraddh. Itihas shows original objects, replicas, photographs and models on the region's past, and Samaj, above it, looks at local society and culture. In the grounds stands a copy of the torana (ceremonial gateway) of the Rudra Mahalaya temple.
