Umiya Mata Temple stands in the centre of Unjha in Mehsana district, Gujarat, and is dedicated to the goddess Umiya, the kuldevi or clan deity of the Kadava Patidars. Members of the community come here on pilgrimage, and the temple is also an important stop for politicians seeking its support.
The temple marked its silver jubilee in November 2009 after a renovation paid for by donations from wealthy industrialists and farmers. Kadava Patidars arrived in large numbers, and tents and guesthouses were set up to house them during the celebrations, which included a vegetarian sacrifice.
