The story

Jasmalnathji Mahadev Temple, known locally as Vaijnath Mahadev, is a Shiva temple in the village of Asoda, Vijapur taluka, in Gujarat's Mehsana district. It was built in the 12th century under the Chaulukya ruler Jayasimha Siddharaja and is a Monument of National Importance cared for by the Archaeological Survey of India.

The temple is a rare panchayatana, or five-shrine, complex of its period. The four corner shrines are in ruins, but the central temple survives apart from its samvarana roof, with a sanctum, a mandapa and a torana porch. It resembles the temple at Sander in plan and elevation but is larger; mouldings and statues line the sides of its staircase, the mandapa's chatuski is ornamented in the vandanmalika manner seen at the Rudra Mahalaya, and the torana is like those at Vadnagar and Delmal.
