The story

Sapthapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple at Keezhai Thirukolakka in Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu, a place known historically as Sapthapuri. Shiva presides as Sapthapureeswarar, and his consort is called Osai Kodutha Nayaki. The shrine is also known as the Thaalamudaiyaar Temple.

The saints Tirugnanasambandar and Sundarar both sang of it, so it ranks among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams praised in the Tevaram, the early medieval Tamil Saivite hymns. Tradition holds that Sambandar was miraculously given a golden cymbal at this temple.
