The story

Thiruthetriyambalam, also called the Palli Konda Perumal Temple, lies near Tirunangur, about 8 km east of Sirkali on the road to Thiruvenkadu. It is a Divya Desam and one of the eleven Tirunangur Tirupathis linked with the poet-saint Tirumangai Alvar. Legend holds that Vishnu took eleven forms here to soothe Shiva's furious dance after Sati's death, and that the deity of Srirangam came at Shiva's request. The name uses ambalam, a Malayalam word for temple.

Two shrines stand inside a compound wall with a single enclosure. The presiding deity, also known as Senganmal and Ranganathar, lies on the serpent in the Bhujanga sayanam posture with four arms, facing east, and his consort Bhujangavalli has a parallel shrine. Each year on the new moon of Aadi, the festival image is taken out to the sea at Poompuhar. During the Thai Garudasevai, the deities of all eleven Tirunangur temples are carried on Garuda mounts while the Alvar's verses for each are recited.
