Thirumanimadam, also known as the Narayanan or Badrinarayana Perumal Temple, is a Vishnu shrine at Thirunangur village, about 10 km from Sirkazhi on the way to Thiruvenkadu. It is a Divya Desam and one of the eleven Thirunangur Tirupathis tied to the poet-saint Thirumangai Alvar. Local legend says Vishnu took eleven forms here to calm Shiva's furious dance, and that the god of Badrinath came at Shiva's request. Ramanuja is believed to have learnt a sacred mantra at this place.
The five-tiered rajagopuram faces the temple tank, and three holes in the tower let the sun's rays fall on the standing image of Narayana; legend says Surya worships Vishnu here all year. The central shrine sits on a raised base reached by steps, with inscriptions from Chola and Nayak times. A hall beside the gateway shelters festival images from the area during the Thirumangai Alvar festival in Thai, when the deities of the eleven temples arrive on Garuda mounts.
