The story

Ratangarh Mata Temple is a Hindu temple to Shakti in Datia, in the Bundelkhand area of Madhya Pradesh.

A tradition ties it to Maratha history. Samarth Ramdas, the guru of Shivaji, is believed to have camped here to plan the king's rescue from Agra Fort in 1666, and Shivaji's cavalry are said to have brought him to the temple afterwards, since the jungle here was too dense for the Mughal army to search. More recently, a stampede near the temple during Navratri, on 13 October 2013, killed 115 people.
