The story

Gohad Fort stands in the town of Gohad in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, about 45 km from Gwalior. It was built in 1505 by Singhandev II, a Jat ruler of the Bamraulia dynasty, whose people had come from the village of Bamrauli near Agra; Gohad became a Jat stronghold and the seat of Gohad State. In 1708 the Rajput ruler of Bhadawar, Maharaja Mahendra Gopal Singh Bhadauria, took the fort.

Inside the walls are a number of buildings: the Navin Mahal, built by Maharana Chhatra Singh (1757–1785), the Khas Mahal, Shish Mahal, Sat-Bhanwar, Deoghar, the Khas Darbar and Am Darbar halls, a treasury, the Rani Bagh garden, and several temples and water ponds.
