The story

Ratangad stands above Ratanwadi and overlooks Bhandardara in Ahmednagar district, close to the boundary with Thane district. Roughly four centuries old, the fort is known as the Jewel of the Sahyadris.

At the top is a natural rock pinnacle with a hole through it, called Nedhe, or the Eye of the Needle. Four gates lead into the fort, named Ganesh, Hanuman, Konkan and Trimbak, and carvings of Ganesh and Hanuman decorate the main gate.
