01 — The story

The story

Ram Niwas Garden is a large public garden in the middle of Jaipur, laid out in the 1800s by Maharaja Ram Singh II, originally as a quiet royal retreat away from the city's crowds. Its best-known building is the Albert Hall Museum, which stands within the grounds and displays objects and art from Rajasthan's past.

Shaded paths run under tall trees between flower beds and ponds where lotuses grow, and peacocks and squirrels are common. Visitors come for walks, picnics or to read in the shade, and boat rides are available on the water. Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and Nahargarh Fort are all nearby.
