The story

Jawahar Kala Kendra is a multi-arts centre in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, devoted to the arts and crafts of India and of Rajasthan in particular. It is unusual in being a space where artists, artisans, scholars and ordinary visitors mix freely. The building was designed by the noted architect Charles Correa, who based its plan on the Navgraha, the nine planets of Indian astronomy.

Three galleries hold changing exhibitions, mostly of Indian artists, though work by both established and emerging artists from abroad is also shown. Folk singers and dancers from Rajasthan regularly perform on the premises, adding live music and dance to the displays.
