01 — The story

The story

Jawahar Circle is a circular park in Jaipur's Malviya Nagar area, near Sanganer Airport, developed by the Jaipur Development Authority. It is billed as the largest circular park in Asia, measuring 452 m across with a circumference of 1,420 m, and is popular with residents and visitors alike.

The entrance is the Patrika Gate, whose painted panels each depict an aspect of Rajasthan's heritage. Inside are rose gardens, tall trees, jogging tracks, an open-air gym, lawns and a children's play area. A musical fountain sits at the centre; from 7 pm it plays to music under coloured lights, with music videos shown on a water screen 27 m wide and 9 m high. To save scarce water in this dry region, the gardens and fountain run on recycled water, which is not fit for drinking or bathing.
