Payal Fort is a historic monument in the town of Payal, Punjab. It was built in 1771 by Maharaja Amar Singh of the Patiala state, with Mughal cooperation. In earlier centuries Payal was called Sahibgarh, and Amar Singh changed the name, though the reason for this is not known.
The Archaeological Survey of India now looks after the fort. Most of it has been restored, but work on the interior is still going on, and parts of the inside remain in poor condition.
