Nahargarh Biological Park covers a stretch of rugged Aravalli hill country a short way outside Jaipur, with lakes, streams, rocky ridges and dense woodland. It is home to a broad range of animals, including lions, Bengal tigers, leopards, hyenas, sloth bears, jungle cats, langurs and herds of chital, while its trees support peafowl, many other birds and butterflies.
Visitors explore on guided safaris along the park's trails, and rangers lead nature walks and education programmes on conservation; there are also chances to help with tree planting and habitat restoration. Plant life runs from small ferns and wildflowers to large banyans. The ground is rough and the sun strong, so sturdy shoes, sunscreen and water are advised, and animals should not be fed or disturbed.
