01 — The story

The story

Miyani Beach lies about 36 km from Porbandar, an uncrowded stretch of fine white sand and clear water. Snorkelling reveals coral and reef fish, and seaside restaurants serve local dishes in the evening.

The village of Miyani is a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Jains, with temples to the goddess Harsiddhi. The oldest stands on Koyla Dungar, a hill overlooking the sea, while the present temple at its base is believed to have been built in the 13th century by the Jain merchant Jagdusha.
