The story

Masjid-e-Bilal, which also goes by Bilal Mosque or Eidgah Bilal Mosque, stands on a corner of a busy junction on Bannerghatta Road in south Bengaluru and is one of the city's largest mosques. It occupies part of the 1.45-acre Bilal Eidgah, land the community bought from the Bangalore Development Authority in 1990 for Eid prayers, with help from the local MLA Ramalinga Reddy.

The Prestige Group, which also paid a large share of the cost, began building in 2010, and the Turkish-style mosque was consecrated on 11 June 2015, with Maulana Qasim Qureshi as chief guest. The four-storey building cost about Rs 20 crore, covers close to 3,900 square metres and can hold 6,500 people at prayer at one time. The Eidgah ground around it provides parking for nearly 500 vehicles.
