The story

The Ragigudda Anjaneya Temple sits on a small hill in the 9th block of Jayanagar in Bengaluru and is dedicated to Hanuman. It was built in 1969 and registered in 1972. Besides the main Hanuman image, it has a Shiva lingam and shrines to Rama, Sita and Lakshmana, with smaller shrines to Ganesha, Rajarajeshwari and the Navagrahas at the foot of the hill.

The five-acre complex includes an amphitheatre, an auditorium, a temple tank and an artificial waterfall, and the temple runs charitable work for the poor. The name means ragi (finger millet) hill. One story says the hill was once covered in ragi; another tells of Sudharma, a generous woman who gave freshly harvested ragi to three radiant visitors. When her mother-in-law objected, the grain heap turned to rock, and the visitors revealed themselves as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, staying on as stone pillars.
