Kusumanchi Sivalayam is an old Shiva temple at Kusumanchi, a short distance from Khammam. It is attributed to the Kakatiya builders and is said to date from the 11th century, which places it among the older stone temples of the area. Its chief object of worship is a towering Shivalinga, counted among the largest in the country.
The temple is built of massive stone blocks, and its heavy pillars and walls carry the fine carving associated with Kakatiya craftsmen: figures of celestial beings, ornamental bands and other decorative patterns. It is a quiet stop for travellers interested in the temple architecture of the Khammam region.
