Khutaghat Dam

Khutaghat Dam is an irrigation reservoir in Bilaspur district, built to store water for farms and to ease shortages in the surrounding countryside. Beyond its practical role it has become a well-liked local outing, its wide sheet of water reflecting the sky and framed by green hills and woodland.

The reservoir is a common picnic spot for people from Bilaspur and for visitors to the area. Boats can be taken out on the water, and the open views across the lake to the forested banks make it a favourite with photographers and with painters who come to sketch the scenery.
