Indira Park is a 76-acre public park in Domalguda, in central Hyderabad, lying along Hussain Sagar lake and managed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. Its foundation stone was laid by the President of India in September 1975, and it opened to the public, fully landscaped, in 1978.
A rock garden, ready in 2002 and based on designs by Subrata Basu, preserves natural rock formations he feared would be lost to real estate development. A walkway called the Statue Path displays abstract cast-iron sculptures of human, animal and other forms, and sandalwood trees grow throughout the grounds. A large lake inside the park, fed by a controlled flow from Hussain Sagar, is used for boating. Since the early 2000s the park has also been a regular venue for rallies and sit-ins by many groups.
