The story

Also called Harshagad, Harihar Fort is a hill fort in Nashik district, about 40 kilometres from Nashik and 48 from Igatpuri. It dates from the Seuna, or Yadava, period. In 1636 it was handed over to Khan Zaman together with Trimbakgad and other forts, and in 1818 John Briggs captured it along with 17 others.

What brings most visitors now is the approach: a flight of steps cut into the rock climbs to a narrow entrance, and these steps have made it a popular trek in recent years. On top there is a set of rock-cut water cisterns that once supplied the garrison.
