Gurdwara Guru ka Bagh lies about 3 km east of Takht Sri Patna Sahib, in what was once a garden (bagh) owned by two Patna nobles, the Nawabs Rahim Bakhsh and Karim Bakhsh. Guru Tegh Bahadur first stopped here on returning from a four-year journey, and the Patna sangat and the young Guru Gobind Singh went out to receive him. A shrine was established here to commemorate the first time Tegh Bahadur and Gobind Singh met.
The present building dates from the 1970s and 1980s. An old well on the site is still in use, and the dried stump survives of the imli (tamarind) tree where the sangat and Guru Tegh Bahadur met.
