The story

Ghanteshwar Temple is a Hindu temple to Hanuman in Khar West, Mumbai. It was founded in 1960 by Sakharam Rahate, a local man devoted to Hanuman, and has drawn worshippers in their thousands since, with queues on Tuesdays and Saturdays and the heaviest crowds on Hanuman Jayanti.

The temple takes its unusual name from the bells, or ghantas, that fill it, many of them given by devotees. Worshippers firmly hold that anyone whose prayer to Hanuman is granted should offer a bell here. The actor Akshay Oberoi came on Hanuman Jayanti in 2016 to pray for his film Laal Rang.
