Dudh Talai, or Doodh Talai, is a small lake in Udaipur lying next to Lake Pichola near Shiva Niwas Palace. Its name means milk pond. Local tradition says it served the cows kept in state sheds to supply milk to the royal kitchen, giving them water to drink and bathe in and grazing on its banks.
Low hills ring the lake, and from its shores the sun can be watched setting over Pichola and the Aravalli hills. The Manikya Lal Verma Garden, also called Doodh Talai Garden, was laid out here by the Udaipur municipal council in 1995 and is reached by steps or by road. It overlooks both lakes, and a hillock above holds a Karni Mata temple with a white stone idol.
