The story

Chittaranjan Palace in Mysore was built in 1916 for the sister of the Maharaja of Mysore. It was later sold to a Mysore family who turned it into the base of Premier Studios, a film company, where many films and television shows were shot, among them the serial The Sword of Tipu Sultan. After a fire the studio closed, and the building became a private residence.

Since the 1970s it has been the Green Hotel, a small hotel of 31 rooms run on eco-friendly lines, with solar power and no air conditioning or television, whose profits go to charity. The same family still holds a major stake in it.
