The story

Chandi Ghat is an old ghat on the River Ganga in Haridwar, named after the goddess Chandi. Its stone steps, polished by generations of pilgrims, lead down to the water, where devotees from India and abroad come to bathe. Incense and the sound of prayer fill the riverside.

A Ganga Aarti is held here every evening. At sunset the ghat is lit by oil lamps while priests chant, and light and prayers are offered to the river as a sign of removing darkness and ignorance.
