Swami Vivekananda Park is a landscaped public park in Haridwar dedicated to the 19th-century monk Swami Vivekananda. Lawns, tended gardens and tall trees make it a quiet green space within the busy city.
A large statue of Lord Shiva stands at its centre, holding his trishul in one hand and raising the other in blessing. The park also has a big statue of Vivekananda with his hands folded. Born Narendranath Datta, he was a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, helped bring Vedanta and Yoga to the West, and won international fame with his 1893 address in Chicago to the Parliament of the World's Religions.
