The story

Birla Ghat is a bathing ghat on the River Ganga in Haridwar, constructed by the Birla family. Hindus regard the Ganga as their holiest river, and devotees come here to bathe, pray and seek blessings, believing a dip clears away sin.

Each evening the ghat hosts a Ganga Aarti. At dusk priests light many oil lamps and chant while light and prayers are offered to the river, a ritual that stands for driving out darkness and ignorance.
