The story

Bhimgoda Tank is a sacred water tank in Haridwar connected with Bhima, one of the five Pandava brothers of the Mahabharata. He is believed to have bathed here to cleanse himself of his sins, and the water is thought to heal and purify.

Steps lead down to the tank, and many devotees take a ritual bath in it. The busiest period is the holy month of Sawan (July to August), when thousands gather to pray and bathe and the tank is decked with flowers, lights and coloured flags.
