Asurankundu is a check dam on the Chelakkara River in Mullurkara panchayat, Thrissur district, about 30 km from Thrissur. It lies at the north edge of the Peechi-Vazhani wildlife sanctuary and gathers water flowing off the forested hills around it.
The approach is a forest track leading off the Vadakkanchery–Mulloorkara road to a forest department check-post, where permission is needed to go on towards the dam; from there it is a two-kilometre walk through the forest. The irrigation department owns the dam, while the road is under the forest department. Walking in is discouraged in summer because of the risk of forest fires, and the rainy season is the recommended time. Boat rides and a hanging bridge have been proposed as part of a tourism corridor with the Peechi, Vazhani and Poomala dams.
