Ahmedabad Kali Bari, on Kali Bari Road (S G Road) in west Ahmedabad, is a temple to the goddess Kali and a centre of Bengali culture in the city. The Bengal Cultural Association, the city's oldest Bengali group, put it up in 2014, and it was opened by Swami Sadananda Saraswati of Sharda Peeth, Dwarka. The association held Ahmedabad's first Durga Puja more than 80 years ago, and the festival is still staged each year on the field beside the temple; 2022 marked its 85th celebration.
The temple covers 2,000 square yards and is built in the manner of a traditional Bengali kutir, or hut. Kali, Shiva, Ram, Sita, Hanuman and Krishna are all housed under one roof. The central image of Kali, carved by Sanathan Rudra Pal, copies the idol at Dakshineswar in Kolkata.
