Vastrapur Lake lies in western Ahmedabad and was renamed in 2013 as Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Mehta Sarovar after the poet-saint, whose statue now stands in its garden. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation landscaped it after 2002, and it has since become one of the city's popular open spaces. Water from the Narmada is sometimes let in to top it up; in 2016 it nearly dried out and residents moved the surviving fish elsewhere.
Stone-edged gardens and lawns surround the water, along with an open-air theatre, a children's park and outdoor fitness equipment. A 600-metre path circles the lake and fills with walkers and joggers in the early morning and evening, and the lawns host cultural events through the year.
