Abbey Falls is a waterfall in Kodagu (Coorg), about 8 km from Madikeri, and is one of the most visited sights in the district. It is fed by streams and springs from the surrounding hills of the Western Ghats, which join and then fall nearly 70 feet over rock into a pool below.
The path down to the falls runs through coffee plantations with pepper vines climbing the shade trees. A short walk from the entrance ends at a bridge set directly across from the cascade, which gives the main view. The falls are strongest during and just after the monsoon, when spray and noise fill the gorge; the months after the rains bring green surroundings and milder weather.
