The Eight-Point Gallery Cafe, better known as 8 Point Art Cafe, combines a gallery and a cafe in Kollam, Kerala, billed as the city's first art cafe of international standard. It is set in Parambarya, a renovated heritage building in the Asramam Picnic Village campus. The muralist and art director Shenley leased the building from the Kollam District Tourism Promotion Council for five years to open the cafe, and the council spent close to Rs 20 lakh on the renovation.
The name refers to the eight creeks of Ashtamudi Lake and to the eight art forms the space brings together. Alongside the gallery and cafe there is a theatre, a library and a music venue, and the place hosts exhibitions, performances and other events, among them 'KL02', a show of Arjun Maroli's paintings of Kollam district. Kerala's first Little Free Library stands in the courtyard: a shelf of about 50 books that readers may borrow by leaving one of their own.
