Sambranikodi is a small island in Kollam district, with sandy shores, coconut palms and clear water around it. It has seen little change over the years and keeps a quiet, rural character. Local people fish here and gather oysters, and visitors can take part in both.
Boat trips run through the surrounding backwaters, and kayaking and snorkelling are offered. The island has drawn artists, writers and filmmakers, and it served as a location for a Hollywood film. Local festivals bring residents together, and craft sellers offer handmade souvenirs. Older temples and historic sites elsewhere in the Kollam area are within reach.
