V. O. Chidambaranar Park and Zoo, known as VOC Park, is a Coimbatore zoo and amusement park run by the city corporation and named after the freedom fighter V. O. Chidambaram Pillai. In 2013 it held some 890 animals, among them 335 birds, 106 mammals and 54 reptiles, with species such as the rosy pelican, sarus crane, adjutant stork and night heron; a rosy pelican chick hatched here after a gap of 14 years.
Around the zoo is a park with more than 200 species of trees, sandalwood among them, a children's play area, a toy train, a Jurassic Park section and an aquarium. The grounds host fairs and the city's Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations. The zoo itself has been temporarily closed to visitors.
